SUMMER HISTORY CAMP AT FERRY PLANTATION HOUSE 2009
Historic Ferry Plantation House will hold History Camp again this year. Sessions offered include: Basic Camp - The 1700’s During this week the student will learn about life in the 1700’s not by reading but by actually becoming a child of that period. They will learn and perform the tasks required to maintain the family and create crafts of the time. Life was very different from the life they have today. We will compare the differences. An archeological dig will be held Mondays thru Thursdays (weather permitting). A tea will be held on Friday. Campers bring lunch and a drink. Snacks will be provided. Cost is $230. and is Tax Deductable Advance Camp - The 1800’s This week includes life in the 1800’s including the Civil War. They will receive a “Physical” of the time and training. If they are successful they will be inducted into the Civil War as a soldier. School of the Sailor training is included in this camp. Again they will learn not by reading but by experiencing the life of that period. There will be an archeological dig Monday thru Thursday (weather permitting). A play will be performed on Friday. Campers bring lunch and a drink. Additional snacks will be provided. Cost is $230 and is Tax Deductable. DATES for 2010 Basic Camp June 21st - June 25th August 16th - 20th Advanced Camp June 28th – July 2nd August 23rd – 27th This is a great opportunity to expose your child or grandchild to history in a fun and exciting way. The lessons they learn will last a lifetime and provide wonderful memories.
